ISLAMABAD:

After a wait of almost three months, Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (Pims) administration has finally asked the police to dispose of the body of a Chinese lady doctor who was found dead in her apartment in February this year. The woman had her hands tied behind her back when her body was recovered.

Police had suspected Jia Yulian, 45, was strangulated to death as marks were found on her neck. Her body was lying in the mortuary of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) since its post mortem. Moreover, no family member or official from the Chinese High Commission had contacted the police to claim the body in the three months.

The motive behind the murder of the Chinese lady could also not be ascertained by the police, who said the investigations were still underway. “We are going to temporarily bury the body until her family could be traced,” said a police official. He said the temporary burial was according to the law. The relatives of the Chinese lady doctor can always claim the body and observe their rituals.

Yulian was residing in an apartment in sector I-8 Markaz when her body was spotted by her neighbour, also a doctor. He told the police that two girls had come for a job interview with the Chinese doctor. The girls found the entrance door of her apartment open. They knocked at the door but did not get any reply.

Dr Adeeb, Yulian’s neighbour had come out of his office on hearing the knocking. Together with the two girls they entered the Chinese lady doctor’s apartment and found her lying on the floor in a room. They called the
police after realising that the lady was dead.
