A woman has accused Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) MNA Salman Mujahid Baloch of raping her at a hotel room in Islamabad.

A case of sexual misconduct was registered against the lawmaker at Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station in Karachi on Tuesday, Express News reported.

According to the suspected victim, Baloch tricked her through a job proposal and raped her when she turned up at his hotel room in the federal capital. Later, he apologised and promised to get married with her.

The girl claimed that the MQM-P leader also had the whole episode recorded on tapes, which was being used to blackmail her for money, adding that her brother had also been abducted and tortured in this regard.

Human rights activist Sarim Burney has also highlighted the issue in the media. He said the girl had told him that Baloch had lodged a fake first information report (FIR) against her for marrying someone else.

She appealed to the authorities concerned to bring the suspect to book and save other innocent girls from being treated the same way.

This is not the only scandal Baloch is facing these days as a man in Karachi claimed that the lawmaker’s guards had harassed, brandished weapons and manhandled him over a minor traffic standoff on Monday night.

The Sindh government took back the lawmaker’s security after a complaint was lodged against him at the city’s Gizri police station.

On Saturday, Salman Baloch had rejoined the MQM-P less than two months after he parted ways with it for Mustafa Kamal-led Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).
