Court feels respondents merely fulfill formality by sending stereotypical replies to petitions.

KARACHI:

A division bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) ordered the federal and provincial governments on Thursday to file separate reports for each missing person’s case.

The order was issued after the court felt that respondents were merely fulfilling a formality by sending stereotypical replies to petitions. The bench was hearing a constitutional petition filed by the Human Rights and Civil Liberties Society of Pakistan regarding Saifullah Paracha, Dr Aafia Siddiqui and Majid Khan. The federal law representative said that efforts are under way to either trace the missing persons or arrange for their repatriation. The next hearing will be held after four weeks.
