Two drug pushers get five-year jail terms

The accused were involved in smuggling narcotics, heroin heroin was seized from their possession

SARGODHA: Two drug pushers were convicted by a sessions court in Sargodha on Thursday. Additional Sessions Judge Rana Zahid Iqbal handed down five year imprisonment to Zubair Ashraf and Imran.

The accused were involved in smuggling narcotics, while over three kilogrammes of heroin was also seized from their possession.

Meanwhile, Civil Judge Shams Husnain Sial awarded eight years imprisonment to two accused involved in a criminal case within Shahpur police station.

The prosecution told the court that Abdul Hafeez and Muhammad Younas, residents of Haripur village in Shahpur tehsil had injured their neighbour Tahir Mehmood over a petty dispute. The court ordered the convicts to pay Rs240,000 as compensation to the victim.

Earlier, Additional Sessions Judge Ghulam Hussain Chaudhry convicted four drug pushers in Faisalabad. The prosecution told the court that Anti-Narcotics Force personnel conducted a raid and arrested Ikramullah, Muhammad Waseem, Hanif and Faqeer Hussain.

The ANF officials also seized huge quantity of hashish and opium from their possession. After hearing the arguments, the judge handed down five-year jail term to Ikramullah, three years imprisonment to Muhammad Waseem, and four–year jail term to Faqeer Hussain.
