IUB to get new academic block

Building will provide facilities to computer science, information technology, commerce, management sciences

BAHAWALPUR: Islamia University of Bahawalpur Vice-Chancellor Prof Qaiser Mushtaq laid the foundation stone of an academic block of faculty of Management Sciences at Baghdadul Jadeed Campus on Sunday.

The building, costing Rs181 million, was part of the federal government funded Rs860 million mega project for construction of faculty of management sciences, two hostels, civil engineering department and an advanced chemistry lab, besides provision of 10 foreign indigenous scholarships.

The building will provide academic facilities to departments of computer science and information technology, commerce and management sciences. Earlier, four mega projects worth Rs1.47 billion were completed, including buildings of Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan campuses, Agriculture College and faculty of education.

In addition, 11.8 kilometre long boundary wall was also completed at Baghdadul Jadeed Campus.
