UoP holds convocation

Degrees were conferred on 193 graduates

The University of Peshawar (UoP) conferred 193 degrees  and 21 gold medals at the much awaited and belated  Bachelor Studies (BS) convocation of 2009-13 and 2010-14 batches which was held at the main convocation hall of UoP.

The UoP Vice Chancellor  Dr Muhammad Asif Khan graced the occasion after K-P Governor and Chancellor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra couldn’t make it to event as chief guest due to official pressing engagements.

A total of 18 disciplines degrees were conferred in the event. According to statistics available, BS students hailing from Arts and Design (4), Biotechnology (15), Microbiology (10), Botany (11) Environmental Sciences (7), Geography (1), Geology (2), zoology (5), Management Studies (38), Commerce (20) Computer sciences(29), Electronics (10), Mathematics (6), Physics (4), Statistics (1), Economics (8), Psychology (11), Sociology (7) and Education (4).


Addressing the participants  the VC called upon students to become ambassadors for UoP  to serve society, country and humanity at large. The VC further said that UoP  is the legacy trust of the founding father of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam and Allama Iqbal. He said that thinker of Pakistan in a resolution at Punjab legislative assembly session in 1928, envisioned the creation of UoP.

He pointed out that UoP said that during last five months funds have been largely spent on the reorganisation of structures at the University of Peshawar. The major part of Rs440 million spent  on labs expansion, initiation of Incubation centre, Centre of Mathematical Sciences, grievance redressal, and ORIC/QEC development.
