Hospital for female inmates inaugurated by inspector general
LAHORE:
Punjab Prisons inspector general has inaugurated a hospital exclusively for women at Kot Lakhpat Jail on Thursday. The hospital comprised of six beds. According to the jail administration, two lady doctors would be available round the clock for treatment of women patients. IGP Mirza Shahid Saleem Baig observed the available medical facilities before inaugurating the hospital. Baig also checked the kitchen facilities at the hospital. While speaking, he said that they will establish similar hospitals in all the jails of the province. He said that there were 138 women prisoners in jail so the capacity of the hospital was sufficient for them. He said tthey already had a comprehensive system of education implemented in jails. Once an inmate was admitted in jail, his religion was marked and arrangements were made for his religious education, he added. An inmate who completed his education, would get a relaxation in his punishment, he said.
