ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan on Thursday demanded reinvestigation of the Kasur child pornography case which was earlier dismissed as a land dispute by Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah.

Imran also said that Zainab’s murder and previous incidents of child sexual abuse in Kasur strengthen the notion that a well-connected ring of child pornography was active in the area. He added that powerful individuals were involved in this heinous crime against children.

Kasur child sexual abuse scandal surfaced in 2015 when video clips of scores of children showed them performing sexual acts. Even though an investigation was carried out into the scandal Punjab law minister later downplayed the whole case saying it was a result of land dispute between the locals.

Head hangs in shame over Kasur child abuse case: Imran Khan

“After the arrest of Imran Ali in the Zainab case, a tale of a well-connected operation of child pornography, abuse and murder is unraveling as he is found to have numerous bank accounts,” the PTI chief said in a tweet. He added that the scale of these crimes against the innocent children shows involvement of powerful people.

He said a strong joint investigation team must investigate this thoroughly including the Kasur child pornography case which Rana Sanaullah shamefully dismissed as a land dispute.

“Sad how controversy is being created on whether or not Imran Ali had bank accounts. We need to desist from sensationalism and press for a credible JIT to fully investigate the horrific tragedy of little Zainab and the other child victims of Kasur,” the PTI chief said.

Imran’s tweets about an alleged ‘child pornography network’ came after an anchorperson of a private television channel on Thursday insisted before the Supreme Court that the accused in Zainab murder case had several local and international bank accounts under his name.

The anchorperson quoting his sources claimed that the accused received huge sums of money from abroad through his foreign currency account saying he would come up with details about it later.
