QUETTA: Two police constables were martyred as unidentified armed men opened fire in the area of Civil Lines Police Station, Quetta on Thursday.

Initial reports revealed constables Ilyas and Shaukat died on the spot while another official, Javed, suffered injuries as a result of the firing, SSP operations confirmed.

Taking notice of the incident, Governor Balochistan Mohammad Khan Achakzai strongly condemned the killing of the personnel.

Seven martyred in blast near Balochistan Assembly

On January 14 one police official was martyred in a firing incident near Raisani road in Quetta.

On January 9, at least seven people, including five Balochistan Constabulary personnel, were martyred, after a suicide bomber struck a security forces truck in Quetta, according to hospital and security officials. The attack, claimed by the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan on Tuesday, took place on GPO Chowk, a busy street in a high-security zone some 300 metres from the Balochistan Assembly.

Last year, a policeman was martyred and two others were injured on when armed militants opened fire at them in Quetta. The injured also include a five-year-old child.
