Court will not compromise on illegal constructions in Murree

ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Tuesday remarked that no concession would be given nor would the court compromise on illegal constructions in Murree. He made these remarks as a three-member bench of the Supreme Court heard a suo moto notice regarding illegal construction in the Murree hills. The bench also directed authorities to resolve the matter within 15 days and submit a report to the apex court. During Tuesday’s proceedings, additional attorney general (AAG) told the court that in compliance with court orders, notices were issued to 125 people, while 35 illegal buildings were demolished. He added that some people had been protesting against the decision. To this, Chief Justice Nisar remarked that nations are not made by protests. “If anyone holds a protest against a legal step, then let them, no favour will be given.” Subsequently, the court adjourned further hearings for three weeks.
