PM Abbasi attends top-level PML-N huddle with Nawaz Sharif

Many issues including rising political tensions in Balochistan were discussed

Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, on Monday, attended a top-level Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) huddle with chief minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, deposed PM Nawaz Sharif, minister of Railways Saad Rafique, and other leaders.

According to Express News, Abbasi arrived in Lahore after a visit to Islamabad and was received by Shehbaz, and the two then departed for Jati Umra for the meeting.

Consultative huddle: PML-N, legal aides weigh options

Party leaders discussed incoming senate elections, the current condition of the country, and of the political happenings in detail. Special attention was paid to the political upheaval in Balochistan, and the PML-N sit-ins during the meeting.

As soon as the meeting concluded, PM Abbasi and Shehbaz departed in a helicopter for Lahore.

Earlier this month, accepting advice of the prime minister, his colleagues and political allies, Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri resigned from his position ahead of a provincial assembly session that was called for voting on a no-confidence motion against him.

Former chief minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch escorted Zehri to the Governor’s House where he formally submitted his resignation to Governor Mohammad Khan Achakzai. The governor, the constitutional head of the province, instantly accepted the resignation and issued an official notification to this effect.
