Former Prime Minister (PM) Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that the disqualification verdict against him by the top court has spread mayhem across the country.

Sharif was talking to a gathering of tribal elders in Chakwal, where he also spoke to the media on the current political climate.

The former premier sought to remind those present in the gathering that the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) government had faithfully served the people of the country over the past four years.

"Every one saw how well we have served in the previous four years. People know my mission, explanations about it are not necessary," he said.

Listing the achievements of his tenure as PM, Sharif remarked that, "We have ended load-shedding in Pakistan and restored peace to Karachi."

Nawaz Sharif also lamented over how he had been exiled from the country after the military-led coup in 1999.

"You know how we were evicted from the country. Where are the people who steered the country towards darkness?" Sharif said in an apparent reference to former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf.

The former prime minister stressed that the ruling against him by the top court in the country had disqualified the PM not on grounds of corruption, but an imaginary salary.

"Case were registered against me on the Panama scandal, and I was disqualified based on 'Iqama'," he maintained.

Nawaz Sharif also challenged opponents to prove even a Rs10 corruption charge against him.

"I want to forget the old wounds for the sake of the people in Pakistan," Sharif told the elders.

Saleem | 6 years ago | Reply Did top court got the loans that no one knows how they will be paid? Was it top court that didn't assign a foreign minister during this man's tenure? Top court asked to make appointments on merit but he was more interested in putting his loyalist, like ex NAB Chairman Qamar ur Zaman who could keep his dirty laundry away. Is this man insane or what? When will he start accepting what has he done to the country?
Muhammad Ibrahim Ojha | 6 years ago | Reply Is he stupid or what. We should not say anything to him as that will create Mayhem. Is he above the law. He should be sent to an isolated island somewhere in the middle of Pacific from where we cannot hear him saying Mujha Kiyon Nikala. I think its time rulers grow up and so do we as a Nation. Ojha
