Facilitating Farmers: Gujar Khan, Taxila get wheat centres

RAWALPINDI:
Two wheat centres have been set up in Gujar Khan and Taxila to facilitate local farmers.
Farmers in the two cities will be able to purchase 16 bags – each weighing 50 kilograms – of wheat seeds from these centres after they show their passbooks and “other related documents”.
This was said by Rawalpindi District Food Controller Sher Khan Niazi on Thursday.
He said the step will help eliminate the middleman from the equation and thus lower the costs incurred by the farmers.
Farmers can also sell their wheat at this centre at Rs950 per 37.5 kilograms, Niazi added.
He said the farmers will have to come to the centres themselves and no middlemen will be entertained.
