Police arrest six suspects, recover arms in raids

DPO directs police to keep close liaison with citizens

The district police arrested six accused and recovered arms in search and strike operations conducted at difference places on Friday.

According to police, Kulachi police conducted search and strike operation at Kot Walidad and Nikora check post on the directive of District Police Officer (DPO) Raja Abdul Saboor Khan and recovered 500 gram hashish and 500 gram bhang from possession of an accused, Mumtaz.

The police also recovered one gun, one pistol with over 100 bullets from Abdullah Jan, one gun from Hanif, one rifle from Ziaullah, two rifles with ten rounds from Ghulam Mustafa and 12-bore gun with four cartridges from Sher Khan.

Police arrested the accused and registered separate cases.

The DPO has also appreciated bravery of police force and added it was committed to protecting lives and property of citizens.


He urged the police to keep close liaison with the citizen whose property and life would be protected at all costs and no negligence would be tolerated on this front.

Growers issues

Meanwhile, sugarcane growers have called upon the authorities concerned to take solid measures for resolving their problems.

Chairing a meeting of farmers, Aiwan-i-Zarrat, farmers association, president Abdul Rashid said despite the fact that the government had fixed Rs180 per 40 kilogram of sugarcane but the mills owners stopped issuing indents to force farmers to sell their crop at throwaway price.

He said that members of the provincial assembly paid no heed to such problems of the farmers, adding the farming community would give befitting response to such political elements and vigorously oppose them through power of vote in next general elections.
