PSRA to monitor registration of private schools

PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Private Schools Regulatory Authority (PSRA) Managing Director Zafar Ali Shah has said that the authority is empowered to deal with matters relating to registration of new private schools after approval and implementation of PSRA Act.

He was addressing a meeting convened on Friday to discuss the matter. Chairmen of different educational boards, concerned officials and director of Independent Monitoring Unit were present on the occasion. He said that PSRA would look after the registration of new schools under the act while examination process and announcement of results arena fall in the ambit of educational boards.

Zafar Ali Shah expressed the hope that all the boards would furnish a complete list of private schools registered so far and chairmen of boards would forward their proposals for improving registration process and to prepare a comprehensive computerise pro forma for the purpose.

He said that after receiving data of already registered private schools from respective boards, authority would conduct a survey of private schools at district level through independent monitoring unit and afterwards decision of registering new schools would be made. He said that government wants to improve education standard both in private and government schools.

The meeting also discussed working sphere of the authority and steps needed to streamline the registration process of private schools.
