ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police have registered a complaint against an unidentified caller from India who has annoyed the police control room staff with his offensive language and ‘Jai Hind’ slogans in repeated phone calls.

Police say the calls were made to their control room in early hours of December 25. While officials maintain that they could not completely understand what language the caller was speaking in, they could make out certain words which alluded that he was an Indian in Pakistan who wished to speak to senior police officials.

“It was around 3:30 in the morning [when the calls started coming in},” recalled Sub-inspector Shabbir Ahmed. “The caller would repeatedly call the control room, using offensive language and issuing threats. He wanted to talk to the Inspector General of Police and the Deputy Inspector General… he told us to raise ‘Jai Hind’ slogans,” wrote the officer, who is deployed in the control room, in his complaint.

In one of his calls, the caller said he was speaking from India and said his name was “Zashe”.

Initially, the staff could not determine the caller’s number since their caller line identification (CLI) was dysfunctional. Officers then approached PTCL for help. The telecommunication company told them that the calls were being made
from India.
