HYDERABAD: Parliamentary and Food Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has ruled out early elections in the country after the approval of the amendment bill in the Parliament for delimitation of constituencies.

"The talk of early elections or installation of a technocrat government now stands without effect," Khuhro said while addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Thursday.

The parliamentary minister said after a lapse of 19 years, the general elections would take place under a fresh population census.

Khuhro also praised Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa for putting to rest the rumours of an undemocratic change in the country by appearing before the senators for security briefing. He interpreted his visit to Parliament as being symbolic of his recognition of the supremacy of democracy.

Former president and army chief General (retd) Pervez Musharraf was an accused in Benazir Bhutto murder case and he was also facing trial for treason, Khuhro said. He lamented that the courts did not issue red warrants for his arrest.

Khuhro alleged that some hidden forces were promoting Pakistan Tehreek-i-Inaaf Chairperson Imran Khan and advised people not to elect him if they perceived the involvement of hidden hands. He argued that the leaders of Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan and Pak Sarzameen Party also met after they were asked by hidden forces to do so.
