KARACHI: Residents of both Tharparkar and Umerkot districts will benefit from Thar coal projects as they will bring prosperity to the region.
Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari said this while addressing a meeting of PPP office-bearers, parliamentarians and local bodies representatives belonging to Tharparkar and Umerkot districts at Bilawal House on Friday.
The coal project in Thar was a dream of Benazir Bhutto, Zardari said, adding that he hoped that coal power plants in Thar would start supplying power to the national grid by 2019.

The meeting was attended by PPP Women Wing President Faryal Talpur, PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, MNA Nawab Yousuf Talpur, PPP Tharparkar President Senator Gianchand, PPP Umerkot President Syed Ali Mardan Shah and others.
PPP leaders from Tharparker and Umerkot informed the meeting about the political landscape of both the districts and status of development projects carried out by the PPP government in the districts.
