Man chops off wife’s nose in Dera Ghazi Khan

District Police Officer Ahmed Nawaz Cheema says accused is at large but he will be arrested soon

MULTAN: Dera Ghazi Khan police booked a man for allegedly chopping off his wife’s nose over a domestic dispute, police said on Wednesday.

A police official said Rashid Hussain, a resident of Faridabad, had been involved in a domestic dispute with his wife Sameena Bibi for the last few months. When matters worsened, Sameena went to her parents’ home, he added.

District Police Officer (DPO) Ahmed Nawaz Cheema said Rashid went to his in-law’s house to reconcile with his wife but she refused to return home with him. In a fit of rage, Rashid allegedly cut Sameena’s nose with a sharp knife.

After the incident, Hussain fled the scene leaving her in injured condition, the DPO added.

Rescue 1122 officials rushed Sameena to a trauma centre for medical treatment. The doctors at the hospital said Sameena’s condition was stable.

The police have registered a case against the accused at Choti Zaireen police station under Section 334 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

A team had been constituted to arrest the culprit, DPO Cheema said. He said the accused would be arrested soon.

Earlier in 2017, three men chopped off the nose and lips of a youngster after subjecting him to severe torture to exact revenge of his role in an elopement case.

The police said Munawar and his accomplices, Shahnawaz and Bilal, took Imran to a deserted place and chopped off his nose and lips, believing that he was involved in helping a girl of their family elope.

Later, a Gadai police team with the help of locals recovered the victim and brought the victim to trauma centre of the teaching hospital of Ghazi Khan Medical College.

Road accident claims teenager’s life

A teenager was killed while another suffered serious injuries in a road accident near 17-Kashi Budhla Sanat Road on Wednesday.

Rescue 1122 officials said that 10-year-old Muhammad Ali and 12-year-old Zubair were going to school on a motorcycle when a bull cart hit their two-wheeler.

As a result, Muhammad Ali died on the spot while Zubair suffered injuries.

The Rescue 1122 officials shifted the body and injured to Nisthar Hospital for treatment and legal formalities.
