Providing facilities: ‘Govt spending Rs8.5b for promotion of sports’

Minister says physical fitness essential for healthy mind.

BAHAWALPUR: Punjab government is spending Rs8.5 billion for the promotion of sports culture on modern lines which will help in utilising the energy of youth in positive and constructive manner. They will get a chance to express their sports talent and to improve it for which they will have strong and permanent sports infrastructure at their disposal.

This was said by Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Baligur Rehman. He was addressing the concluding ceremony of sports gala at Dring Stadium Bahawalpur.

The federal minister said that under the leadership of chief minister, all resources will be utilised to provide sports facilities to the youth. He added that for healthy and creative mind physical fitness was necessary for which sports play an important role.

He maintained that in the current fiscal year, the provincial government started several projects, including construction of a cricket ground, E-library, sports complex and gymnasium,

He appreciated Bahawalpur Mayor Aqeel Najam Hashmi for successfully organising the sports gala.

While addressing the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Rana Muhammad Saleem Afzal said several projects related to sports were underway in Bahawalpur.

He said that sports gala, which was held between the employees of tehsil municipal administration was a positive and constructive step in the history of Bahawalpur.
