NYT ranks Maryam Nawaz among world's 11 powerful women

Report calls her most courageous and most powerful woman of Pakistan

Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, was named among eleven powerful women of the world on Sunday in a 2017 ranking issued by the New York Times.

According to NYT, Maryam is the most courageous and most powerful woman of Pakistan. “Maryam is the most suitable heir to the political empire that her father and ousted premier Nawaz Sharif has built.” However, the foreign media outlet said corruption charges against her and her family are clouding her rapid rise

“She had recently emerged as the right hand of her father Nawaz Sharif,” the Times report says.

The other women on the list are , Manal al-Sharif of Saudi Arabia, Emma Morano, Margot Wallstrom (Sweden), Henda Ayari, Olive Yang, Asli Erdogan, Letizia Battaglia, Sinta Nuriyah, Yu Xiuhua and Alice Schwarzer.
