ISLAMABAD: Senior politicians have warned their colleagues to resolve their issues themselves rather than involving other institutions, besides advising them to avoid confrontation with institutions.

The Supreme Court verdicts in the Panamagate case and the Imran-Tareen disqualification case are being seen as a wake-up call, by some seasoned politicians.

Former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday once again stated that his party’s policy of confrontation was not in the national interest.

“Time and again we have stated that we are not acting upon the policy of confrontation with institutions but our statements are creating a confrontational situation, which is not in the interest of the country,” he stated in a statement.

The PML-N stalwart said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz should pull out of the state of confusion and also pull the country out of it.

“I have been stating time and again that if there is no satisfaction over a verdict of a court then it may be attained through another court of law,” said the former interior minister. He added that his stance had proved true with a favorable verdict in the Hudabiya Paper Mills case.

“Pakistan is at a very important juncture of its history and we need to act sensibly rather than emotionally,” he said.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah has also been advising the government and others to tackle the matters politically instead of taking them to the courts.

PPP Senator Rehman Malik has also advised politicians to behave wisely in the backdrop of the “dangerous political situation” in the country.

“After yesterday’s verdict of the apex court, the matter will not end over here,” he said, expressing fears that the fight might turn into a vigorous battle.

“The politicians should sit together and set their limits. It is likely that we would not be able to do things tomorrow which we may be able to resolve today in parliament,” he said, advising the PML-N and the PTI to avoid criticising the judiciary.

Interestingly, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique had expressed disappointment on the disqualification of PTI secretary general Jahangir Tareen.

Speaking to media after the court’s decision on, he had stated that the tradition of getting politicians disqualified from courts was not appropriate.
