Pakistan Hindu Council chief MNA Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani has said that Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb immediately apologised on WhatsApp when he pointed out her disappointing remarks against minorities.

Vankwani said that he was in a meeting when he learnt about the unsuitable remarks and “I immediately called her and pointed it out”.

Claiming that her statement was regarding foreign funding of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, she said that she respected his [Vankwani’s] opinion about her selection of words and was thankful to him for pointing it out.

She issued a clarification immediately after that, Wankwani added.

He said, “Humans are supposed to err and those who do not insist on repeating the same mistakes and correct themselves are good people.”

He said, “Marriyum is performing her duties in a good manner but the use of religious references in political animosities can increase the difficulties of the non-Muslim community in Pakistan.”
