LAHORE: The PML-N election campaign will expose Imran Khan’s false promises made to the people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa  (K-P), said Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif during a TV interview.

The chief minister claimed that the PTI chairman had to backpedal on all his commitments made during the last elections. He said Khan, after aggressively criticising the Punjab government, was now left with no option but to toe “our line in development”.

Shehbaz, while speaking about the court’s decision regarding Jahangir Tareen’s disqualification, said Imran, who has been schooling the entire country against corruption, was benefiting himself from corrupt individuals like Tareen.

He said Tareen got loans worth billions of rupees written off. He said, “Apart from using Tareen, Khan is also benefiting from the biggest land grabber of Lahore, Aleem Khan.”

He questioned what was the PTI chairman’s commitment against corruption when both his major financiers were corrupt?

Interestingly, throughout the interview, the chief minister refused to comment on the Panama verdict. He said, “I don’t believe in criticising court judgments.”

Regarding the decision of the Hudabiya Paper Mills, he said it was a vindication for him and his entire family.

Shehbaz said, “The Supreme Court’s verdict has endorsed our stance based on truth and justice.”

Rana Sanaullah

Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said the top court had revived the doctrine of necessity in disqualifying Jahangir Tareen and rejecting Hanif Abbasi’s plea for Imran Khan’s disqualification.

The minister said the decision was to balance it out and gave an impression of fair judicial process endorsing the version of the PTI.
