ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has imposed a fine of Rs1 million on the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA), a press release stated on Monday. The government-run agency has been penalised due to non-compliance with Nepra’s directions regarding submission of Monthly Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) data for February 2017. The press release said that Nepra is required to make adjustments in the approved tariff on account of variations in fuel charges within a period of seven days on a monthly basis. The required details for these adjustments have to be provided by CPPA-G by the 3rd of each month, which it failed to do for February. The release said that the deliberate delay in providing the information “denied consumers their legitimate benefit of around Rs6 billion, pertaining to February 2017, to be passed on in their monthly bills of April 2017”.
