693 schoolteachers promoted

FAISALABAD: At least 693 elementary schoolteachers have been promoted to next grades in Faisalabad District. A spokesperson of the education department said on Monday that 459 elementary schoolteachers were promoted from grade 14 to 15, whereas 234 elementary schoolteachers were promoted from grade 15 to 16. He added the district selection committee had also approved the promotion. After persistent demands of teachers, the Punjab government is finally considering promoting officers to the next grade. The Punjab Teachers’ Union (PTU) and other teachers’ groups have long been vocal for promotions and have been protesting against the stalled process for the past two years.
