KARACHI:

National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak) has been appointed the consultant company for the construction of the Malir River Expressway from Defence Housing Authority Phase VII to the Super Highway.

A meeting was held at the DCO Camp Office where it was decided that Nespak would conduct a study of the project and submit its feasibility report within two months, according to a City District Government Karachi (CDGK) statement issued on Wednesday.

The meeting was chaired by acting city administrator and DCO Karachi Muhammad Hussein Syed and was attended by DHA’s Colonel (retd) Ali Amjad, works and services EDO Rasheed Mughal, transport EDO Atique Baig, Nespak’s Farhat Adeel and the Mass Transit Cell director-general.

As the city is expanding every day and thousands of plots have been allotted to people in New Malir Housing Scheme, it is essential for people to be connected to the rest of the city through a new route. The construction of the expressway was necessary to provide direct access to heavy traffic to the Super Highway and National Highway. Administrator Syed said a consortium could also be formed to solve the lack of resources.
