PTI leaders, workers slam US decision on Jerusalem

Enraged protesters shout slogans against the US for hurting Muslims sentiments

LAHORE: Workers and supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday took to the streets against US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

A large number of PTI workers gathered at Akbar Chowk on Sunday to register their protest against the US president. PTI senior leader Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry along with local party leaders led the protest rally. Protesters were holding banners and placard on which slogans were inscribed against President Trump, the US and Israel. Angry protesters also shouted slogans against the US government for hurting the sentiments of the entire Muslim world. They also raised slogans against Israel and India.

Chaudhry condemned the US president decision’s and demanded the US government to immediately withdraw this announcement as it can cause great harm to peace in the world.

He stressed that the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) should take strict notice of Trump’s decision as Makkah, Madina and Qibla-e-Awal were the most sacred place of the Muslim world.

“No Muslim country can accept this decision of the US president and will prefer to sacrifice anything safeguard its faith,” he said.

He said this move would not only increase hatred against the US but would also incite terrorism in the world. He also urged Muslim world to unite and increase pressure on the US government to withdraw its decision.

“Pakistan is a nuclear power. Instead of maintaining silence rulers should strongly condemn the Trump administration. They should play their role and strongly emphasis on their stance. Saudi Arabia should also condemn this move otherwise the Muslim world will believe that Saudi Arabia is also involved in this conspiracy,” he remarked.

Chaudhry suggested that the OIC should bind all Muslim countries to end diplomatic and economic relations with the US. He said the US president’s announcement is also a violation of the United Nation’s chartered. Muslims around the world are protesting against the Trump’s decision. People of Pakistan will stand by with Palestinians, he maintained.
