Politics first, cricket second

LAHORE:
The National Assembly's Standing Committe on Sports grilled PCB Chief Ijaz Butt, Chief Operating Officer Wasim Bari and cricketer Younis Khan on the ongoing allegations of match fixing.

The three men were summoned during a meeting of the standing committee in Islamabad.

Butt and Bari alleged that every single member of the national cricket team desires to be a skipper, which is why they deliberately play against the wishes of the elected captain.

The PCB chairman said that Muhammad Yousuf forced Shoaib Malik out of the team when he became the captain. He added that the management wanted to call back the Akmal brohters from the Australian tour but the proposal was rejected by the captain.

Bari slammed Younis Khan and said that he was unable to manage the team after assuming the charge.

He blamed the senior and junior players of playing politics and added that the team mangemnt was unable to control the affairs of the disputing team.
