Official sources said huge funds have been released for the construction of a ring road in Bahawalpur to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

Traffic jam issue has become a routine matter as scores of vehicles including passenger coaches, cars, motor rickshaws and motorcycles ply on city roads. Keeping in view the situation of the traffic jams in the city, the government provided with funds estimated to millions of rupees to construct ring road and additional ring road for citizens of people to resolve traffic jam issue.
The official sources further said land mafia had constructed encroachments over government land located on the site of proposed additional ring road project. Following the orders received by senior government officials, the district management launched anti-encroachment operation in bus-terminal area and Bindra Puli and demolished buildings constructed on government land.
Assistant Commissioner, senior police officials and other officials were present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Bahawalpur Division Commissioner Captain (retd) Saqib Zafar has said air-conditioned luxury Speedo bus service would be launched next week in the city. He said the buses would operate between Bahawalpur and Lodhran at a route comprising 28.7 kilometres. Initially.
