BAHAWALPUR: Classes have started in newly constructed state-of-the-art academic block of Rahim Yar Khan Campus of Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB). The project has been completed at a cost of Rs726 million and is one of those three mega projects which were delayed since 2007 and the Higher Education Commission was going to cancel these projects.
However, Vice-Chancellor Prof Qaiser Mushtaq contacted the federal government for the revival of these projects.
HEC bars four universities from enrolling students
On special initiative of the VC, Central Development Working Party, in its meeting, approved an additional grant of Rs310 million for completion and extension with addition of two hostels for boys and girls of 250 capacity each. Besides, an administration block, library and a student service center would also be constructed.
Prof Qaiser Mushtaq visited the academic block and reviewed the progress of under completion buildings.
On the occasion, he said that Rahim Yar Khan Campus will provide quality education facility to students of Rahim Yar Khan on their door step. “The youth of neighbouring districts of Balochistan and Sindh provinces can also study in the facility,” he added.
