TCF celebrates outstanding teachers, principals

More than 4,000 teachers and principals of TCF schools in Sindh attend ceremony

The Citizens Foundation (TCF), a non-profit organisation working to promote education in the country held its annual teachers awards to recognise the committed teachers and principals working at the schools run by the foundation in Karachi.

The ceremony was the last event in a chain of award ceremonies organised by the foundation in major cities of the country this year. The event was attended by more than 4,000 teachers and principals of TCF schools in Karachi and rural Sindh along with the senior management and other staff of the organisation.

During the ceremony, TCF Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Syed Asaad Ayub Ahmad presented awards to the organisation's teachers who exhibited brilliant performance this year.

"TCF largely owes the success that [it has] achieved so far to [its] teachers. A good teacher can build a future of a child and change his life for the better [and] a good principal can run a school with discipline and empathy for students, guiding them in the right direction as and when needed…they take ownership of their students and nurture them as their own children," he said.



Awards were presented to 1,400 teachers for extraordinary performance this year in three categories. Special awards were also presented to students who performed exceptionally in the matriculation exams in 2017.

Speaking on the occasion, TCF Vice-President Riaz Kamlani said that being one of the leading organisations empowering women, TCF believes it is necessary to provide a comfortable environment to the teachers. Special emphasis is placed in TCF on training the teachers regularly for continuous improvement, he said, adding that the improving results of TCF students and their success in professional life was a testament to the dedication of TCF teachers. With their ambition and commitment, the teachers enable the children of different ethnic backgrounds learn and understand their subjects, he said.

TCF employs 12,000 female teachers and principals at its network of 1,441 schools in Pakistan. This makes TCF one of the top women employers in the country. A fleet of 800 TCF vans transport the female faculty to TCF schools in remote areas every day, making quality education possible for the children living in underprivileged areas.



Besides teachers, TCF also pays special focus on the role of principals in the process of imparting quality education to students. While teachers have a direct impact on students in classrooms, principals affect all students in a school. TCF arranges training for its principals in order to inculcate leadership skills in them. The trainings focus on leadership traits including communication skills, conflict management, delegating task, setting priorities and taking action when required. The objective is to produce and sustain a positive learning environment that generates strong learning outcomes in classrooms, ensuring students' academic success.
