This was said by Baitul Maal Department Director Muhammad Shahid Rana in Faisalabad the other day.
He said that provision of salary to daily wage special employees was being ensured with the cooperation of district administration and in this regard, 217 people with disabilities across the division had been paid wages from October 2017. He added the building department staff in Jhang and Toba Tek Singh districts was paid wages from August 2017.
He maintained the staff in highways department was paid salary till September 2017. Shahid said that facilitation cell for special people had been established at social welfare offices of all districts.
The district redressal committee for people with disability was also functioning in all districts under the supervision of deputy commissioners, he said.
The Baitul Maal director also highlighted the Punjab government’s efforts for people with disabilities, including increase in employment quota from 2% to 3%, concession in upper age limits up to 10 years and issuance of Khidmat cards.
Earlier, at least 66 people with disabilities were provided jobs by Punjab government against the recommended 3% quota in Multan District.
Those who were given jobs in different departments included 17 visually impaired persons, 17 deaf and dumb and 32 physically disabled.
