Power shortage: Government asked to identify causes
Government asked to form a high-powered commission.
LAHORE:
Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s former senior vice president Abdul Basit has asked the government to form a high-powered commission to identify the causes behind increasing power shortages. In a statement on Tuesday, he said that more than 15 hours of power outages in urban and 20 hours in rural areas due to over 6,000-megawatt shortfall in demand and supply, had not only ruined the economy, but also driven the industrial sector towards bankruptcy. According to him, new investments were critical for the economy of any country, but said that when local investors were not ready to invest, it was difficult to convince foreign investors.
