Like every Rabiul Awwal 12, this year the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will be celebrated with religious fervour by Muslims all over the country. A high turnover is being reported at markets selling decorative items for the occasion as many people want to decorate their houses to observe Eid Miladun Nabi.
The Paper Market near Lighthouse is one of the several markets located on MA Jinnah Road. The number of buyers at the market these days is much higher than the rest of the year and the crowd is expected to increase till Rabiul Awwal 12. As soon as the day commences, shoppers flock to Paper Market to buy their favourite decorations and the number keeps increasing until dusk.
According to shopkeepers and stall owners, people are showing up at the market with traditional enthusiasm for the occasion. Many people also come with their families, the shopkeepers said, adding that among decorative items, demand for flags and badges is the highest.
"I have come here for badges and flags for Rabiul Awwal 12," a woman said, adding that her children would wear new clothes to celebrate Eid Miladun Nabi.
To make sure that people get their desired items for the celebrations of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the traders start preparing for Eid Miladun Nabi months earlier.
