An eight year old child is also in critical condition. The incident took place at the Rangers Headquarters near Altaf Colony. Eyewitnesses said customs officer Zaman Baloch's son, Fakhar ul-Zaman, was misbehaving with people, and opened fire when others attempted to stop him.
Thirty-eight-year-old Farooq was killed at the spot, while eight-year-old Usman is in critical condition at the hospital.
Fakhar made an escape and broke into a house, firing at people indiscriminately that resulted in eight people getting injured. Onlookers said police arrived at the scene but helped the criminal flee from the area, while the police said they have arrested Fakhar.
Residents of Altaf Colony have staged a protest against the incident, blocking Zarar Shaheed Road and burning tyres. Their demonstration has now reached Airport Road.
