PU students put on exemplary performances by clinching gold, silver and bronze medals in the Asian Indoor Rowing Championship Malaysia 2017.
MSc Sports Science student Naila Bano clinched gold medal in Open Mix Four 500X4 and bronze medal in the Light Mix Four 500X4 events. Muzammil Shahzad, student of Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, obtained silver and bronze medals in Light Path 2000X2 and Light Four Mix 500X4, respectively.

Punjab University Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Moeen Nasar has congratulated the students on their remarkable achievement.
Meanwhile, Punjab University’s Centre for South Asian Studies organised a seminar on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in its auditorium on Friday. Centre School of Public Administration-University of Geosciences China’s Director Xiaoqing Xie was the keynote speaker on the occasion.
CSAS Director Dr Umbreen Javaid, faculty members and MPhil amdPhD scholars were also present on the occasion.
In her address, Xiaoqing Xie said CPEC was a very significant project for both China and Pakistan. She said various Chinese companies and factories were ready to invest huge amounts in Pakistan.
HEC bans 450 programmes in universities
To this end, many Pakistanis would be given technical training, she said, adding there would be more placement opportunities with handsome wages.
Meanwhile, PU College of Earth and Environmental Sciences, in collaboration with Centre for Health and Gender Equality (CHANGE), organised peace seminars at department of Space Sciences and CEES under the project “Inspiring the Future”.
The training sessions hoped to sensitise students in terms of promoting tolerance and peace on the university premises and society.
