BAHAWALPUR: A child died of snake bite in an agricultural field in Chishtian on Thursday.

A police official said that two-year-old Usman was present in a field where his mother was busy picking cotton from the crop. “In the meantime, a snake bit the child and as a result, he fell unconscious.”

The victim was rushed to a local hospital for treatment but he could not survive, the official added. The police handed over the body to the family of the victim after legal formalities.

Earlier in October 2017, a woman died of snake bite in Faisalabad. Allied hospital officials said 30-year-old Rabia, a resident of Chak No 293-JB, was working in the fields when a snake bit her.

As a result, she fell unconscious and was taken to Allied Hospital for treatment.
