Bring out woollies: Chilly weather draws shoppers to Lunda Bazaar

RAWALPINDI: With the mercury plunging, people in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have been rushing to buy warm clothes.

The ‘Lunda Bazaars’ have seen an increase in footfall with shopkeepers putting out a vast array of warm wares for buyers.

People have been seen buying winter clothes from stalls and stores along Railway Road, Raja Bazaar, Moti Bazaar, Jamia Masjid Road, Fawara Chowk, Chungi No22, TenchBhata and Chur Chowk.

The market for secondhand clothes though has much more to offer including curtains, quilts, blankets, rugs, trousers, shirts, woollies, children’s wear and jackets at reasonable rates.

With rampant inflation and increasing poverty, many cannot afford clothes in the glittering shopping malls of the twin cities and a large number of people settle for buying used sweaters and jackets at a cut-price from these shop.
