Understanding your body is the key to looking good and a trait found amongst all impeccably dressed fashionistas. While people shy away from talking about their bodies, these brave souls explain how they work their anatomies to their advantage

How would you describe your body type?

I like to believe I’m lean usually, but the last two years of back to back pregnancies have had a major effect on my body!

Has your body type changed over the last five years?

Of course my body has changed in five years. I had three C-sections and it takes a while for your body to feel like itself again. I work out five times a week and have been on a very controlled diet to get back into shape.

How has your style changed over the years?

Having lived all over London, DC, Dubai and now Lahore, has had an effect on my fashion and style. I feel it’s changed a lot, I’m a lot more confident in what I wear; I don’t think fashion should be a ‘be-all and end-all’ of your life. These days people take it too seriously, especially in Dubai and Lahore, I stick to classic looks!

In your opinion what is your most troublesome area?

Well, after having my babies, I have a lot of troublesome areas but you need to be smart in how you dress. I believe in wearing clothes that flatter the good areas and don’t highlight the troublesome areas!

How do you dress your body according to your body type?

Like I said earlier, my body has gone through hell and back, and I’m proud of maintaining my fitness after three children and getting back into shape in less than nine months! So now I’m confident enough to wear jeans and a t-shirt! When you are fit you don’t need to think too much about how to dress up.

In your opinion what is the biggest mistake a person can make while dressing here?

To each their own, but I can’t get over how over done Lahore’s fashion scene is! People need to calm down and stop taking themselves so seriously! I miss the times when the bride looked like the bride. Now you can’t tell who the bride is. Not to forget the top to toe designer looks make me laugh and sick at the same time! Instagram really has messed with our heads.

Which silhouettes suit your body the most?

I think good clean cuts flatter any body type! But apart from cuts it’s maintaining a fit lifestyle to maintain a fit body — that’s important!

What is the one piece of clothing that you shy away from wearing and why?

I shy away from anything that doesn’t make me feel confident, from outfits that everyone else will be wearing and I hate following the bandwagon, so I create my own sense of style!
