The meeting was attended by British Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi Elin Burns, Planning and Development (P&D) Board Chairperson Mohammad Waseem and CM Principal Secretary, Sohail Rajput.
Shah said that the he had requested the UK high commissioner to provide technical support for the rehabilitation of the Sukkur Barrage, a lifeline of the agro-economy of the province. The visiting trade envoy said that the British government is looking to enhance bilateral trade with various countries. “Our major import would be vegetables and chillies,” he said.

The chief minister said that the government has taken some important measures for the growth of agriculture. He advised the visiting envoy to meet local industrialists to explore other trade opportunities.
Shah asked them to support the government in the Keti Bander project. “The provincial government has formed a consortium which is preparing a feasibility plan, but it needs further technical support,” he said, adding that the Keti Bandar project would include a coal jetty, power park and industrial area.
Shah nominated Waseem as the official representative of the government to coordinate with UK industrialists and traders.
