MULTAN: A large number of women thronged boutiques and cloth markets to buy winter wears as the temperature went down marking the commencement of winter season in the city like elsewhere in the country.

Big shopping malls and boutiques were seen displaying sweaters, woven caps, shawls, mufflers, jackets, shirts and trousers attracting a large number of buyers, both men and women.

The outlets selling stitched clothes were getting the major share of the buyers. “Buying fabric and then getting it stitched properly from tailors as per modern designs is a tough job,” customers Sadia and Hina said.

“Now is the age of advancement and competition. One can buy new fashionable clothes from boutiques at reasonable price,” they added.

Another customer Shazia said, “Tailors sometimes compromise designs and size and also demand double charges when asked to stitch dress urgently.” Similarly, Shagufta a buyer at Cantonment Bazaar said, “Tailors do not honour promise of stitching clothes on time.”

Nasira and Beenish, who were busy in shopping clothes at a mall near Chowk Katchery, said that one can find clothes of different quality at boutiques, from cheaper to costlier ones.

Temperature to rise on Tuesday

A boutique owner and designer Nasir Abbas said that they try to display quality clothes at reasonable price to enable middle class families buy clothes of their choice. He added, “Boutiques also get clothes stitched as per choice of the buyers.”

He maintained, “All boutiques have skillful tailors, who can stitch clothes from any type of fabric and these are attractive enough to satisfy the aesthetic sense of the buyers.”
