MUMBAI:

Mumbai Indians’ Rohit Sharma smashed 87 and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh bagged five for 18, as Mumbai beat Chennai by eight runs in the Indian Premier League.

Chasing 165, Chennai got off to a shaky start, losing Murali Vijay early. In-form batsman Suresh Raina was also soon dismissed by Harbhajan before Australian Michael Hussey and Subramaniam Badrinath shared a 60-run partnership. Lasith Malinga struck in the 12th over to break that stand.

To add to Chennai’s misery, captain MS Dhoni was dismissed cheaply. Harbhajan then sent Srikkanth Anirudha packing to make it 123 for five.

The off-spinner also dispatched Albie Morkel, Ravichandran Ashwin and Joginder Sharma in the same over to seal an important win for Mumbai.
