Punjab joins hands with Beijing to promote Chinese language

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) has started to offering the language courses and technical education with support from non-profit organisation at all of its technical colleges in the province to meet the requirements of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

K-P TEVTA Chief Administrator Sharafat Ali told The Express Tribune that the provincial government was trying to promote technical and vocational education and training in cooperation with local business and industries.

Talking about the impact CPEC was having on technical education, he said that the multibillion-dollar corridor is very important, not only for Pakistan in general but for the province in specific as well.

He added that the corridor will offer thousands of jobs to the people, but these opportunities can only be availed if the people are ready for them, Ali explained as the reason for offering Chinese language courses.

The provincial TEVTA chief added that apart from the languages, they had also started offering short courses for plumbing and welding.

To reach out to more people, he said that anyone can take admission in technical colleges, especially women after they had started classes specifically for them.
