Young Shadab Khan produced heroics with the bat in the final over to take Pakistan over the line with two wickets in hand in the second T20I of the three-match series against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

Chasing just 125 to clinch the series, Pakistan were on course till the fifth over, when Fakhar Zaman was run out, courtesy poor calling from his partner Ahmad Shahzad.

From there on, Pakistan kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually reduced to 113-7, needing 13 off the final over.

On the first delivery of the 20th over, Vikran Sanjaya claimed the wicket of Fahim Ashraf to apparently sealed the game for the visitors, but Shadab had some other ideas.

The 19-year-old struck a brilliant six on the fourth ball of the over when his team needed eight off three balls and the Men in Green got over the line with a ball to spare.

Earlier, all-rounder Ashraf became first Pakistani to claim hat-trick in T20I cricket. The 23-year-old claimed wickets of Udana, Udawatte and Shanaka in the 19th over of the visitors’ innings.

The final game of the series will be played in Lahore on Sunday.
