Scholars eulogized Sir Syed Ahmed Khan as a visionary thinker and shed light on his educational, cultural, social and political services for the Muslims.  They spoke at the program of the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) organized by varsity’s Department of History on Thursday, marking the birth bicentennial celebrations of the great reformer. Delivering his keynote address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui said that Sir Syed brought renaissance of the Muslim Ummah by launching the Aligarh movement to improve the educational and social conditions of the Muslims of sub-continent. He said that by following his example, the AIOU is working on providing free education to all the deprived sections of the society including disabled persons, prisoners, drop-out girls and transgenders.
