Gems: SMEDA to revitalise institute

Smeda will formulate a 5-year business plan for the revitalisation of the Gems and Gemological Institute of Pakistan.

PESHAWAR:
The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) will formulate a five-year business plan for the revitalisation of the Gems and Gemological Institute of Pakistan (GGIP).

At a meeting with Smeda Operations General Manager Syed Iqbal Kidwai at the institute on Thursday, it was revealed that the business plan will cover proposals and recommendations for revitalisation of the institute, particularly the changing of the structure of the board of directors and provision of financial resources to it.


Kidwai also directed officials of the authority to establish a linkage between the trained youth of the institute and financial institutions, for provision of soft loans to assist them in acquiring self-employment.
