KU psychology dept to observe Mental Health Week

Event to include theatrical play, workshops, personality assessments, counseling sessions

KARACHI: The University of Karachi's (KU) psychology department will observe Mental Health Week from today (Monday) till Friday.
"The theme of the week-long proceedings is 'The Secret to a Happy Life,' where every day stressors that hinder students' health and life on a global scale will be discussed," said KU Psychology Department chairperson Professor Dr Farah Iqbal.

The event will include a theatrical play, exhibition of experimental instruments, poster competition, workshops, personality assessments and counseling sessions. A panel discussion will be held on Tuesday at the university's arts auditorium at 11am. Dr Khan will preside over the event while the dean of faculty of social sciences, Professor Dr Muhammad Ahmed Qadri, will address the event

Panelists include Dr Saadia Qureshi from the Aman Foundation, senior psychiatrist Dr Uzma Ambareen, Hamdard University Head of Psychiatry Department Dr Majid Ali Abidi, senior psychologist and associate professor from the Aga Khan University Dr Nargis Asad, KU psychology department senior psychologist and associate professor Rubina Feroz, nutritionist Dr Ayesha Abbas and KU psychology department programme coordinator and lecturer Zahra Barkat Ali will be the coordinator.
