Blast in Dir market
A bomb blast hit Chakdara’s Sapna Market on Sunday afternoon in the Lower Dir district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Luckily, no casualties have been reported so far, a police official said.
While speaking to The Express Tribune, Lower Dir District Police Officer (DPO) Nowsher Khan confirmed the blast hitting the Sapna Market famous for women apparels.
“The bomb disposal squad reached the site to check whether it was an improvised explosive device (IED),” Khan said, adding that no casualties were reported in the explosion as the market was closed as it was Sunday.
The police cordoned off the area and started investigation.
It is pertinent to mention that back in 2008 when militancy was on the rise in the region, a traders association of the same market had banned entry of a single women into the market.
It was compulsory for women to be accompanied by male family members due to fear of terror attacks.
