In the backdrop of rising political temperature, Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has started preparations for the general elections.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan, who has predicted early polls on numerous occasions, has also directed its party workers to prepare for general election.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, PTI Central Punjab President Abdul Aleem Khan underscored the need to organise and strengthen party workers for upcoming general election. He said the PTI is one of the most popular political parties of the country which needs to strengthen its workers for 2018 polls.

He said the PTI workers would continue their struggle against corruption and status quo under the leadership of Imran. The party leaders and workers were fighting against vindictive schemes of provincial and federal governments against the PTI and it will not allow rulers to play with the fate of the country.

Criticising the ruling party, Khan said those who came into power through backdoor by stealing public mandate are now talking about the supremacy of democracy. He said puppet ministers, who believe Sharif rule is inevitable for democracy in the country, are denying democratic norms and process.

Khan said deposed premier Nawaz Sharif was disqualified over corruption charges but his cronies are continuously trying to malign Pakistan courts and army and terming the court’s decision a conspiracy against democracy.

He added that the ruling party has tried its best to prove ongoing accountability as a conspiracy but they would not succeed. How democracy could be in danger if state institutions investigate corruption of an accused person, he asked.

Contrary to the ruling party, Khan said his party’s chief has a vision to end family politics and introduce corruption-free system in the country. He underlined that ISPR DG has rightly said that democracy is not under threat by armed forces but in great danger owing to breach of democratic norms. Khan said Sharif family has ruined national economy owing to its dictatorial policies. A specific group is trying to keep hold of the country’s reins not only for themselves but also for their children, he added.
